Spring startup and fall blow-out service that protects pipes from freezing and gets your system ready for the season.
Water in irrigation lines expands when it freezes, and it can crack pipes, valves and backflow devices. Tennessee winters bring enough hard freezes that winterizing a sprinkler system is a sensible precaution, and the cost of a blow-out is small compared with a burst line. In spring, a careful startup avoids water hammer, finds winter damage and puts the system back into service with the right settings.
In fall, we shut off the water, drain the system and use compressed air to blow water out of each zone, then protect the backflow device and set the controller to rain mode. In spring, we turn the water on slowly, check every zone for leaks and broken heads, make simple repairs and adjust coverage. We set the schedule for the season and explain how to adjust it. Many customers schedule both visits together every year, so they never have to think about it. Scheduling both visits at once, in spring and fall, means your system is always protected, and you are never caught by an early freeze or a hot week when the controller has not yet been set.
Compressed air clears water from each zone so freezing cannot crack pipes or heads.
The backflow device is one of the most vulnerable parts. We drain and protect it correctly.
Slow pressurizing avoids water hammer, and a zone check finds winter damage.
We program the controller for the grass type and the weather, and explain changes.
