A clear calendar of what your lawn needs each month in Middle Tennessee, for cool-season and warm-season grasses.
The most common lawn mistake is doing the right thing at the wrong time. Pre-emergent applied in June, fescue seeded in April, or a heavy nitrogen dose on bermuda in the fall each wastes money and sometimes harms the turf. A seasonal schedule puts every task in its proper window. In Middle Tennessee, cool-season grasses such as tall fescue do their best growing in spring and fall, while warm-season grasses such as bermuda and zoysia thrive in summer heat and rest in winter.
We build your schedule month by month for the grass you have. It shows when to apply pre-emergent, when to feed, when to aerate and overseed, when to watch for grubs and disease and when to winterize. We also adjust for the weather, because a warm February or a wet May moves the windows. You get a simple calendar you can follow, along with our visits, so you understand why each step happens when it does and what you can do between visits to help.
Tall fescue and bluegrass are fed in early spring and fall, seeded in early autumn and protected from heat stress in summer.
Bermuda and zoysia are fed in late spring and summer, aerated as they green up and left alone in dormancy.
Soil temperature, rain and late frosts shift the best days, so the calendar is a guide that we fine-tune.
Mowing height, watering habits and leaf removal between visits help the program work better.
