Questions

Lawn care questions, answered plainly.

About fertilization, weeds, aeration, seeding, pests, mowing and cost.

Getting started

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The lawn walk and the written estimate are free and come with no obligation. You approve a written scope and price before any work begins.

What areas do you serve?

Nashville and communities across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and more. See the service areas page for the full list.

What kind of grass do I have?

We identify it on the free visit. Tall fescue is the most common in Middle Tennessee, with bermuda and zoysia on sunny lots.

What services do you offer?

Plans and estimates, fertilization and weed control, aeration, seeding and renovation, pest and disease control, mowing and maintenance, beds and irrigation, and commercial work.

Treatments and weeds

When should I put down pre-emergent?

Before soil temperatures reach the mid fifties in spring, which is often late winter. We time it by soil temperature, not the calendar.

How often should I fertilize?

Cool-season lawns are usually fed in spring and fall. Warm-season lawns are fed through the warm months. Your calendar shows each visit.

Is lawn treatment safe for kids and pets?

Follow label directions and keep children and pets off treated areas until they are dry or as directed. We give clear instructions after every visit.

Why do weeds keep coming back?

New seed, thin turf and compaction let them return. Thick grass, correct mowing and timed prevention reduce them each year.

Seeding and aeration

When should I aerate and overseed?

Early fall for fescue and bluegrass. Warm-season lawns are aerated in late spring or early summer.

Should I use sod or seed?

Sod gives an instant lawn at a higher cost. Seed costs less but needs weeks of careful watering. We help you choose.

How long until new grass grows?

Seed often sprouts in one to three weeks. The lawn thickens over a season.

Cost and timeline

What drives the cost of lawn care?

Lawn size, turf condition, access, the services you choose, the number of visits and the products used.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

We explain the terms clearly in the estimate so you know exactly what you are agreeing to, and how to adjust or pause service.

How do I compare bids?

Ask each company to price the same lawn area, services and visits. Our bid scorecard helps you compare scope, references and communication.

Pests and care

How do I know if I have grubs?

Lift a patch of damaged turf. If it peels back easily and you see white C-shaped larvae, grubs are present.

Can you help with mosquitoes and fire ants?

Yes. We offer mosquito barrier treatments and fire ant control, and we give simple tips to reduce them at home.

Do you mow lawns?

Yes. We offer weekly mowing, trimming, edging and blowing, along with cleanups and seasonal care.
